Sensorial Experience of Design

A Milanese refuge where design meets emotion. A project that becomes a sensorial experience, open to anyone wishing to embrace it. Project: Studio Locatelli Partners Year: 2024 Site: Milano

In the heart of Milan, opposite the historic Palazzo del Senato, a project takes shape-one that engages with the city’s architectural identity and contributes to an elegant, coherent urban patchwork.

Just steps from Via Montenapoleone, in a building meticulously renovated with sartorial care, a collection of exclusive apartments has been created for those who seek not just a place to stay, but a deeper immersion in the Milanese way of life. Here, interior design becomes narrative, and each floor a chapter of its own.

The five suites share the same layout: a spacious living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, three bathrooms, and two balconies. Yet it’s in the details that each floor reveals its soul. Finishes and furnishings shift in tone, following the natural light and creating a chromatic palette that grows more intense with each level.

The custom-designed kitchens on each floor are dressed in colors that evoke emotion: cactus green, sky blue, blush pink, rust red, and aqua green. Soft or bold tones, paired with interiors either in harmony or contrast, shape spaces where functionality is enhanced by visual delight. Materials invite touch, while maintaining durability over time.
In the junior bathrooms, time is reflected in the details.

Five different wood finishes—from natural and thermo-treated oak to maple, mahogany, and glossy lacquer—reinterpret a refined vintage style that converses with the present without nostalgia.
Each wood essence welcomes daily rituals with a new depth; every material choice invites one to slow down, to inhabit time. Maple also appears in a large library filled with curated books, inviting quiet moments of reading.

This project is an ode to Italian design: every floor is furnished with iconic objects and carefully chosen materials. The interiors evoke tradition and reinterpret it within a contemporary vision of living. And the view over central Milan is simply priceless.

The Harmony of Delicate Nuances

The generous brightness of this penthouse in the city center is softened and reflected by the choice of neutral tones and delicate nuances, which flow seamlessly from the airy open space into the more intimate and secluded night area, enveloping it in a warm and inviting atmosphere.

Project: Studio Arch. Mario Cassinelli
Year: 2024

The space unfolds in a living area with a dual soul, where the kitchen and living room engage in perfect harmony. A bookcase with inclined oak uprights in a medium-tone stain and shelves in burnished brass-effect sheet metal acts as a visual filter at the entrance, introducing the material palette that defines the entire apartment.

Beyond this visual threshold, the living area welcomes a spacious corner sofa facing a suspended TV unit in oak, enriched with slender brass inlays. More discreetly positioned, the kitchen embraces three sides of the space, with a central island featuring an integrated snack counter. The elegant grain of the medium-stained oak columns alternates with a vertically cut, backlit glass cabinet, enhancing the depth and rhythm of the environment. Functional opening mechanisms, such as vertical sliding systems, maximize space efficiency, while refined champagne-colored painted iron handles add a touch of sophistication.

The base units and central island are adorned with a bronzed metallic lacquer finish, whose luminous reflections create infinite shades and depth. Complementing this, Dolomiti marble extends from the worktop to the back wall, accentuated by a strip of light that aligns with the geometric ceiling track. The same marble reappears on the partition wall leading to the night area, reinforcing the visual and material continuity.

Here, delicate nuances take center stage, enveloping the master bedroom in a soft and soothing light. The lacquered bookcase is enriched with metallic finishes, as are the bedside tables, while the walk-in closet reveals itself through a lightweight structure with open shelving and hanging rails. The transition area is fitted with a niche unit featuring bronzed mirror doors, echoing the aesthetic of the entrance storage unit and enhancing the perception of space.

In the bathrooms, beauty meets functionality in an essential yet refined language: metallic surfaces, clean lines, and meticulously curated details create a timeless elegance. Even the laundry area reflects this ethos, distinguished by functional elements with a minimalist aesthetic, crafted in matte white lacquer.

Un raffinato Capolavoro Urbano

In the heart of the urban landscape, an exclusive villa emerges, developed over multiple floors. The guiding theme of this elegant residence is the harmonious fusion of perfect geometries and precious materials, particularly thermo-treated oak and warm bronze tones.

Project: Studio Arch. Mario Cassinelli
Year: 2023
Site: Bergamo

At the entrance, a bright glass facade bathes the living area in natural light, characterized by light-colored upholstery, a marble cladding around the fireplace, and a magnificent bookcase made of thermo-treated oak, topped with slim bronze shelves. This fluid space seamlessly extends into the dining area, where a glass table with suspended lights captures attention, and a sideboard beneath the window offers both practicality and style.

The kitchen, concealed behind a frosted glass movable wall, distinguishes itself with the skillful use of dark marble and light Carrara marble, harmoniously combined with thermo-treated oak and bronzed metallic cabinetry and bases. The kitchen takes on an L-shaped layout with a central island serving as both a food preparation area and a casual snack counter.

In the living area, discreetly positioned are a coat rack and a powder room, both adorned with marble, uniting elegance with functionality. Carrara marble continues into the staircase leading to the upper floor. Here, you’ll find a master bedroom with a private bathroom and a meticulously organized walk-in closet. Two smaller bedrooms share an elegantly designed bathroom. The color palette on this level remains light and neutral. In the bathrooms where Carrara marble dominates, the service cabinets echo the warm gray hues of its veins, enriching the design with symmetrical carvings that introduce dynamism. In the same color scheme, the sliding door walk-in closet offers well-organized space with a keen attention to detail, and the two smaller service bedrooms are furnished with bridge wardrobes and shelves. An accent of matte black can be found in the nightstands of the master bedroom, elegantly illuminated by two suspended lights, and in the desk with tapered shelves in one of the two smaller bedrooms.

Descending to the basement level reveals a section dedicated to wine display, featuring a captivating blend of an antique piece of furniture and lightweight metallic wine bottle holders set into a background of thermo-treated oak. Adjacent to this, a spa area boasts backlit niche panels and a technical room housing the home automation systems. This level also accommodates a seasonal wardrobe, crafted from laminated fabric-like material, an ample laundry room with a technical surface in Krion and a welded basin, open shelves, and closed cabinets for storing cleaning products. Two storage rooms complete the basement level, one for wines and the other for provisions.

Lighting plays a pivotal role across all three levels of the villa. Recessed and surface-mounted spotlights, geometric LED strips with adjustable spots on tracks, and curved design chandeliers work together to create an atmosphere of sophistication that unifies and distinguishes the entire project.

Delicate colors and lake reflections

In “that branch of Como Lake, which turns south” are situated this villa whose furnishings are characterized by delicate colors and mirrored surfaces, whose bronze reflections recall those of the lake at sunset.

Project: Architude
Year: 2023

At the entrance, an oval table is presented in all its elegance and the brass of its profiles is also found in other furnishing accessories in the house. Hidden from view is the corner kitchen, extending in height to the ceiling beams. The kitchen with its ivory white and green Guatemala marble top is also divided into an island and a back cabinet, offering a functional and welcoming space.

The ceiling has a transparent connection with the upper floor, an architectural feature which, together with the veined beams, gives the room a refined yet dreamy and natural look. The living area opens onto a glass wall, allowing light to illuminate the softly colored furniture. A subtle bronzed mirror finish of the TV unit reflects the environment, creating a harmonious link with the elements present on the upper floors.

These are accessed by a stairwell, isolated by ivory-coloured sliding doors and illuminated by light filtering through the transparent upper part. The delicate colors are also found in the bathroom furniture, in the walk-in closet and in the master bedroom, combined with the reflections of the chest of drawers with a mirrored lid. The girls rooms are tinged with pastel shades, with the external doors of the wardrobes colored pink, which light up when opened thanks to LEDs hidden by internal veils

On the top floor, an open space attic offers a bright and welcoming environment, enriched by a bathroom with walls and floors in Calacatta gold marble with golden veins and a window to the sky. The bronze mirrors of the symmetrical furniture at the arrival of the staircase reflect the external vegetation, creating a bucolic atmosphere.

The warm embrace of wood and metal

In a villa surrounded by greenery, the interior furnishings are characterized by the elegant combination of dark wood and metal inserts.

Project: Studio Arch. Mario Cassinelli
Year: 2022/2023
Site: Bergamo

At the entrance, a hanging rack in the niche anticipates and denotes the style of the living area, characterized by full-height thermo-treated oak furniture with linear brass inserts that enrich and enhance the nature of the wood.
The living area opens up in front of a glass wall that illuminates upholstered furniture in light tones and an equipped wall that alternates with a backlit bookcase. The parts with doors recall the style of the entrance’s furniture while the bookcase is interesting in which very thin bronze painted shelves are inserted which, with uneven lengths, create dynamism between the vertical and oblique volumes.

We also find wood on the floor with a warm-toned parquet that alternates with the veined white of the Carrara marble that characterizes the bathrooms and the basement staircase. The bathroom serving the living area takes up the material fil rouge of the adjacent room, while the one on the lower floor is characterized by a light-colored cabinet with recessed handles, a white solid surface top that contrasts with a dark-toned floor.

Light/dark play also in the night area where the combination of wood and metal remains but changes appearance preferring the solid colors of ivory white in the master bathroom and black in the bedroom furnishings. These lose their austerity with a play of primary colors found inside the bedside tables and in the circular recessed handles of the chest of drawers. The metal, on the other hand, becomes black iron and underlines its industrial imprint with visible welding.
The maximum expression of the material is found in the aerial staircase that goes to the mezzanine where there is a walk-in closet with folding doors covered in black iron combined with a matt lacquered chest of drawers.

An important role within the environments is played by artificial lights. The false ceilings have linear and symmetrical cuts capable of diffusing soft light throughout the living area. In the bathrooms and bedrooms, the light points have been carefully chosen, to have the best lighting without losing the charm of the atmosphere.
